I know many people were concerned and have been wondering about how my dog Chloe is doing after my last journal ( NO BLFC for me - Backing out :(Unfortunately, a week before the con, I've decided to cancel the trip and not attend BLFC this year.
My dog Chloe is sick with (what we think is) Hepatitis. She requires over 7 medications a day and close monitoring and encouraging to eat, drink, etc. Chloe has been with me for 10 years now and is very dependent and bonded to me; and though she has shown improvement in the last few days, I would not be able to enjoy my time at a convention or focus on work when worrying about her back at home. At this point, I've spent all week focusing on nothing else but her so I don't even think it would be possible to finish con prep at this point anyway. Not to mention the burden it would put on the caretaker watching her if we left.
I am sad to miss out, but in the end my "child" and her health is more important than a convention. There is always next year :)
To any Pre-Order clients: I sent out an email to you, but in case you didn't get it, your badges will be available for pickup at Thornwolf'
)

I'm happy to say that since last Thursday Chloe has only continued to improve and is feeling 100% better :) She's been getting weekly blood tests to check her liver values, and both tests so far have shown them to be dropping which is fantastic. Her levels are still very high, but since they're continously dropping week after week, then the meds are working and she is healing.

The vets still aren't 100% sure what she has/why she has it, but the meds she was on for Hepatitis are working and so that's the good sign. We're doing a titer test for Leptospirosis just in case (as Lepto is zoonotic and could be passed to me/my other dog/etc). Though Lepto is not likely, it is a possibility that we'd like to rule out just in case. We'll know by next week if it's Lepto or not. Otherwise, I guess all we can say is that it's Hepatitis in some form and we'll slowly wean her off certain meds to see if it's something she will get over, or if she'll have chronic issues the rest of her life. I know many people who's dogs have had liver issues in the past but got over it and just need monitoring to make sure it doesn't come back, so it will be a continuous thing to deal with for a while longer.

So we'll see where it goes from here; I'm just happy that she is healthy again and back to her old self :) She lost a bit of weight and almost all her muscle mass by being sick, so now we're focusing on some rehab and getting her strong again. It's crazy to think that just a few months ago she did a 7 mile summit hike, and now she gets tired from a 2 mile walk! But we'll work on it. I hope to be able to take her on our first 14er hike this July if possible; she's a little wonder dog :)

Thank you to everyone who expressed concern and sent good thoughts! It was really tough for the first week during her diagnosis/hospitalization but I'm just so glad it's over!

Otherwise, I will sorely miss attending this amazing con, but am also a bit relieved I don't have to worry about anything else right now besides Chloe's health and well-being.

I am still planning on doing the home con Jammy Jam so anyone who wanted to commission me at BLFC keep an eye out for that, I will be taking con-type commissions for that ^^ Otherwise, for anyone else going, I will see you at RMFC :)

Shake It Off by Idess
Shake It Off
Shake it off, shake it off!
Ok ok, so I'm not really a fan of the song but I've been relating a lot to the lyrics lately, and I've always loved the still photos of dogs in mid-shake that show their features all distorted, so I drew this up X3

When people who don't know you and have never spoken to you start assuming things about you and spouting falsities about your character, it's so easy to lash out when your emotions are high to try and defend yourself and your decisions. But often doing so just gives these people more things to pick apart and turn against you. So you sit silently and suffer while they take your silence for guilt.
If these people came to you and actually talked to you, you would be happy to talk to them. They could hear your side and see what you're dealing with. But some people don't care; no matter what you do they are so self-centered and set in their ways, nothing you do or say could sway them.
Haters gonna hate, basically.

So it's time to just shrug them off, as they will never change their views. They will continue to slander you and make assumptions based on nothing. So shake it off, and keep going. There are plenty others who know who you are and support you. Those people are who you focus on, and lean on in troubled times :) I've always tried so hard to get everyone to like me, but I've learned that in the end you can never please everyone.

Enjoy what you love and love your friends; life is amazing and full of wondrous things <3

Now enjoy some cute dog art :P

Newport by Idess
Newport
Graphite Pet Portrait commission of a beloved dog named Newport who recently passed. A friend of the owner commissioned this from me to memorialize Newport, which I thought was such a kind gesture!

Thank you!
Unfortunately not really, it was sort of my dream thing as a young teen and now I'm grown up I sorta left it behind... though I'd still love to redo the story and make a comic someday, no clue if it'll ever happen ^^

Hi -
My wife and I are starting a small mobile phone Apps Business to raise money for animal rescue and welfare charities.

We are making mostly games with animal themes.  We really like your artwork here on DeviantArt and wondered if you'd like to get involved.
If you are please let us know.  There wouldn't be much money in it, typically $100 to $400 dollars for a set of artwork for a game but we would also give you credit
for your work and include a link to your Deviant Art page or any other site you preferred.

Best Wishes
Chris and Ursula Rose
